New Partnership with St. Louis Consultation Center

Saint Louis Consultation Center Announces New Director, Partnership with Saint Luke Institute

St. Louis Consultation Center, a national treatment center for Catholic clergy and men and women religious, has been acquired by Saint Luke Institute in Silver Spring, Md. While the programs will remain distinct, the new partnership will allow the staffs to collaborate professionally and clients to more easily access the program that best fits their needs.

In addition, Sr. Jean Meier, CSJ, Psy.D., has been named Clinical Director of the St. Louis Consultation Center. A Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet and a member of the organization’s clinical staff since 1996, she succeeds Paul Midden, Ph.D., who has retired from the St. Louis, Missouri-based organization he founded in 1992.

The Consultation Center is a national leader in the psychological and spiritual treatment of Catholic clergy and religious and is known for its unique intensive outpatient program.

“Our program offers the best of both worlds for those clergy and religious who are able to live independently, but who also need intensive therapy in a compassionate, understanding setting. It’s a wonderful program. I am grateful to Paul Midden for his vision and commitment that has led to the success of St. Louis Consultation Center and look forward to continuing the same high level of care,” said Meier.

Treatment areas include addictions, aging, anger and interpersonal challenges, anxiety, depression and vocational issues. Additional services include consultation; psychological and spiritual assessments; and an after-care program for individuals who have completed treatment.

Saint Luke Institute, the international education and treatment center for clergy and men and women religious has programs in Silver Spring and Baltimore, Md.; Louisville, Ky.; and Manchester, England. Its staff provides integrated psychological and spiritual care through residential and outpatient treatment, consultation services, and education in healthy ministry through

Meier-Jean-2013-RGB-web.jpgSister Jean Meier, CSJ, is a member of the St. Louis Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. After establishing a parish-based counseling practice in Lincoln Park, Ill., she completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the Illinois School of Psychology. She has been engaged in the treatment of clergy and religious men and women since 1994. She joined the staff at the St. Louis Consultation Center in 1996. In addition to her clinical work, Sr. Jean has been active in leadership of her community, having served two terms as province counselor and six years in formation ministry. She continues to be active in the intercommunity formation program in St. Louis, presenting workshops and providing facilitation.
