evaluations

When a seminarian, priest or religious is struggling, it can be difficult to know what steps to take. Saint Luke Institute offers professional consultation for intervention strategies and comprehensive spiritual, psychological and spiritual evaluations for seminarians, Catholic clergy or men and women religious.

What an Evaluation Includes

An individual typically arrives on Monday and leaves on Friday.

During the week, he or she will meet with an evaluation team of professionals in fields such as psychology and/or psychiatry, clinical social work, spiritual formation and medicine.

The evaluation includes laboratory tests and a physical examination, clinical and psychosocial history interviews, a spiritual assessment, and neuropsychological and psychological evaluations.

Practical Recommendations

At the conclusion, the team will provide the individual and leadership with oral feedback and recommendations. This will be followed up by a detailed written report within two weeks.

Recommendations are tailored to the individual and may include individual or group therapy, deeper spiritual direction, follow-up by a physician or, a minority of the time, residential treatment.
