Leadership

Fr. Arsenault President and CEO

Reverend Edward J. Arsenault, a priest of the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire, will assume the presidency of Saint Luke Institute on October 20, 2009.  He has served as a pastor, chancellor, secretary for administration, and moderator of the curia. He has worked extensively in Catholic healthcare ministry in New Hampshire and promoted safe environment programs throughout the United States.

Father Arsenault is a gifted and compassionate pastor who brings to Saint Luke Institute his concern for the spiritual, emotional, and physical health and wellbeing of those he serves. In his ministry, he has established and maintained critical partnerships with other religious organizations, not-for-profit institutions and the broader business and public communities.
As the Bishop’s Health Care Delegate, Father Arsenault chaired the Board of Governors of Catholic Medical Center Healthcare System and served as the Delegate of the Bishop to the Board of Directors of CMC. He worked closely with the President and CEO of CMC in developing strategy for the long-term growth and development of Catholic healthcare in New Hampshire with an updated canonical and legal governance structure.

As Chairman of the Board of the National Catholic Risk Retention Group of Lisle, IL, Father Arsenault shepherded the development of the VIRTUS program and the “Protecting God’s Children” safe environment program. Many U.S. Catholic dioceses use VIRTUS as their diocesan safe environment program.

Father Arsenault also served as the Bishop’s Delegate for Ministerial Conduct from 2000-2009. In this ministry, he guided the development and implementation of a comprehensive diocesan code and policy for ministerial conduct and the establishment of the first diocesan review board.

Born in Boston, MA, he graduated from Merrimack College, North Andover, MA, in 1980. He was sponsored by the Diocese of Manchester for seminary studies at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD, where he was awarded a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology.
Father Arsenault was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Manchester in 1991 and assigned to pastoral work in the diocese’s Latino communities. In 1993 he was awarded a Pontifical License in Sacred Theology from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, MA. He was assigned to pursue an advanced degree in finance and received a Master of Science in Finance from Bentley University, Waltham, MA, in 1995. He has served as parish administrator of Saint Anne Parish and pastor of Saint Pius X Parish, both in Manchester, NH. During his 14 years in diocesan ministry, Father Arsenault provided weekend pastoral assistance to pastors throughout the Diocese of Manchester.

In his leisure, Father Arsenault enjoys reading, travel, many genres of music and the further study of languages and multicultural ministry in the Catholic Church.
